The Chosen Group is the brainchild of Geoff Chesman and Shana Murik.
Geoff is a mid-30s professional photographer who never found anything worthwhile to do with his journalism degree until a brainstorm one night with Shana. As a Jewish Day School graduate, and extremely grateful to the generations who have come before, Geoff wanted to find a way to keep young Jewish men and women involved and connected to their community while moving on to the next stages of their lives.
Shana is a 20-something who got tired of playing ‘guess the Jew’ in a crowd of strangers. She decided to create The Chosen in hopes of sharing Jewish related news, events, and resources to other like-minded Jews in the DC area. By day she is a marketing and events manager for a small publisher in DC. By night she fights crime in her superwoman cape. Not so much the last part but a girl can dream can’t she? In all honesty she realized it was about time to stop watching Woody Allen on repeat and quit browsing the ‘cute jew boys’ blog and pick-up a hobby. She has a less jew-centric blog at Radar to the Scene.
